I guess when you buy a $850-1000 product you expect to be impressed with the output... I must say I was expecting a lot given this camera's 3 Megapixel ccd and claims of "HD video quality." What came in the box was a very very well made camera that will hold of to anything the weather can throw at it. From the sealed IP connection to the fiberglass housing, this camera is made tough. The free software that comes with it is great too. Lots of options and adjustability built into this system. The let-down started when I got it hooked up and storing video to our camera server. Yes it is 180 deg video and yes, it is capable of very large format images but the images are really not that much better than my old panasonic VGA CCTV images (640x480). Yes it "sees" as much as 3-4 of the old non-hemispherical cameras but I still was unable to read license plates at ranges as close as 15-20 ft from the lens. Kind of disappointing considering I bought a 2 Megapixel camera from Axis (indoor only however) and it has sharper images and a price less than half the Q24M-Sec-D11. Basically I'll be keeping the Mobotix and using it for an over-view camera but I'm going to have to find something better for clear images that will actually help law enforcement or security. I was also annoyed to discover that while they claim the software is useable in multiple OS's (Microsoft, Mac, Linux) you can't update the camera firmware from a mac... I tried and tech support ended up telling me it's a known issue.
