We have had this range for 2 months. The cooktop is fantastic and heats water to boiling in 2 minutes. I use cast iron pans on it without risking scratching the cooktop surface by placing a paper towel under them thanks to induction heating! It's hard to get that smudge-free clean look on the cooktop, because it's black and very high gloss, but it's so easy to clean up spills that I can live with it. The cooktop only gets hot under the pans, that's a big plus and was the biggest influence on my purchase of the stove. The range window is truly magnificent. I just love how large it is. I went with this one over the similar models offered by the other related brands (whirlpool and maytag), because the control panel is on the back of the oven, rather than on the surface where the electrical controls can heat up and malfunction. The oven takes a long time to preheat (about 20 minutes), so I do have to take that into account when cooking. Also, the Whirlpool aqua clean system that this thing comes with is ineffectual, at best. You can google for more information on that. I do not like the fumes given off during traditional self-cleaning cycles, so this is another con that I'm willing to live with. When it gets really filthy, I'll turn it up as high as it will go for an hour or two and forgo the worthless aqua clean. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "KitchenAid KIRS608BSS" are high quality item.
