Just screw a nozzle onto the hot air tool, place the nozzle over the QFP, SOP, PLCC or SOJ to be desoldered, apply hot air to melt the solder without ever touching the component or PC board, and gently lift the component from the board using the vacuum pickup. Soldering of the replacement SMD is just as easy. Maintains a constant set temperature when the set and the value is reached. Aoyue 2702A+ SMD Profesional Repair & Rework Station Review

I have owned this product for about a year and I am very disappointed in its functionality and longevity. I originally bought the unit because it combined a hot air rework station with a desoldering gun. Turns out both were quite useless. The desoldering gun is of very poor design and is not very useful at all. The tip is too long and has a high enough thermal mass that solder often gets stuck at the end of the tip. In edition the vacuum pump is not all that powerful so that most of the time the gun does not even pick up all the solder. You are much better off sticking with soldering wick and a solder sucker. The hot air rework station was ok but after a few months of use the cable in the cord broke. After disassembling it it was clear they used inexpensive wire and did not do proper strain relief.

Although the soldering iron heated up quickly it does not have nearly the power of my used Metcal and the handle gets much hotter after prolonged use. You are much better off buying a quality iron used of ebay.

If you are willing to spend $250 on a soldering iron you are much better off going on ebay and buying a used Metcal to do your soldering and spending $50 on a butane torch (which is much more reliable than the Aoyue and works almost as well).
