Cut 3D Software or similar software to be used with the CNC Shark models. Simply program the Shark to operate at the same detail level as the Touch Probe scan to reproduce the object later. Works well for replicating basic shapes for carvings or reproducing damaged areas on antiques or other irreplaceable items.

Anyone who owns a Rockler CNC Shark Pro Routing System or Shark equivalent knows that there is little that Rockler offers along the lines of 3D carving. Sure they sell the software that allows a user to import programs from other 3D software providers but they offer very little for the user to create 3D within their programming. This probe is a godsend for those who need to reproduce existing material or duplicate a complex 3D item.

I purchased this probe in order to duplicate a plastic item in wood for a custom box I was making for sale. It has become a mainstay in my business and I have come to love its ability to copy almost anything with incredible accuracy. It has greatly increased my ideas and greatly decreased the time I spend on projects. It also allows me to purchase things like wooden rope trim and other special inlays and moldings from the local wood supply store and copy them. This way I can buy a cheap pre-made item and copy it without having to buy expensive 3D models from 3D websites. I can buy a piece of trim I like for $2-5 copy it and save the program, this way I don't have to pay $25-50 from modelers.

*For those who do not have the Shark Pro Plus unit the probe will come with an additional cord that needs to be wired into the circuit board in the control unit. This is simply done by opening your control box and plugging the extra cable into the proper slot. The instructions provided will show how to do this.

*Additional software will need to be downloaded from the SharkCNC site.
