I've had this set of Klein climbers for several years and they are still holding up well. These are Klein's standard climbers complete with their #72 [1-1/2" long] CCA gaffs, pads and straps and are pretty much the good old basic leg irons that have been around for decades. Klein seems to have stuck with this time tested design, but there are now many types of climbers available from other manufacturers that are made from aluminum or even titanium with large oversized pads if you want to spend the money. On that note, these Klein's are probably not the most comfortable to wear for an extended time, but I do like them because they have a very solid, secure feel to them. Klein sells several other sets of climbers that come in different lengths or with different gaffs installed, but they are all basically the same style of leg irons and the gaffs/spikes are interchangeable on all of them. I will occasionally swap out the #72 gaffs that, originally came on these climbers with the longer Klein #86 gaffs or their even longer #07 tree gaffs when I need to do some tree felling. If you are thinking of using a pair of these for the first time, I hope you have good knees. Unfortunately, mine are just about shot and it felt like my left knee was going to blow out the last time I wore them to gaff a tree. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Klein CN1972AR Pole Climbers with 1-1/2-Inch Gaffs-Complete Set" are high quality item.
